On February 15, 2017, the executive decision of the 2017/302 EU Commission was published in the Official Gazette of the European Union with the conclusions On Best Available Techniques (BAT) for the pig and poultry intensive sectors.
The Best Available Techniques established harmonize a high environmental protection without compromising the profitability, viability and economic competitiveness of the farms. Among those considered to be of general application, cost-effective techniques have been included in the farms, compared to other proposals by other advisory groups that had associated problems of applicability and high costs.
These conclusions are the reference for the establishment of the permit conditions of the installations subject to Directive 2010/75 / EU, which in the case of the pig sector, affect the installations of more than 750 places of sows and more than 2,000 places pigs over 30kg.
With the official publication of these conclusions, our active participation in the Working Group formed for the preparation of the Guides of Best Available Techniques, whose technical coordination led PigCHAMP Pro Europa; in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, with the advice of FEASPOR and the participation of the affected producing sectors, represented by the National Association of Producers of Pigs (ANPROGAPOR), the Spanish Association of Egg Producers (ASEPRHU ) and the Interprofessional Poultry Poultry Organization of Spain (PROPOLLO).
