Biosecurity in the farms, in DATAGRI 2018

DATAGRI is consolidated as the reference forum in Spain for the promotion of digital transformation in the agri-food sector.

During two days, on November 26 and 27, 1,600 professionals exchanged knowledge and experiences in DATAGRI. At the opening ceremony, Luis Planas, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food pointed out that innovation and digitalization are already essential tools for the sector. For his part, the European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Phil Hogan, European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, underlined the potential of Spain to lead the process of digital transformation of the sector in the EU.

Our colleague María presented one of the selected success stories about the digitization of the sector. Specifically, she explained the internal biosecurity control system developed in PigCHAMP through PRRSons. This system is based on the control of farm personnel movements along with the classification of farm areas at different levels of risk, depending on the health status of the animals (determined by laboratory results and symptomatology). In this way the movements are categorized into correct and incorrect depending on the origin and / or destination of the movement. In PigCHAMP we have installed this system in different countries, controlling the movement of almost 500 workers (about 62,000 sows).
